Psychotherapy
Violeta's individual clinical practice with clients combines elements of Emotion Focused Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy. This approach is similar to the technique of exposure therapy, except that the client brings up memories of attachment injuries or traumas while in a particular state of compassion, calm and clarity. The client is therefore able to process those trauma-based emotions and beliefs rapidly.
These therapies may be helpful for:
- anxiety
- depression
- relationship difficulties
- stress
- trauma
- grief
- anger
- addictions
- low-self-esteem
- life transitions
Couples Therapy
Violeta's clinical practice with couples combines elements of Psychodynamic, Systemic, Cognitive Behavioural and Emotion Focused Therapy. Violeta helps couples identify and understand patterns of communication and vicious cycles. She helps couples explore the causes behind these behaviours as well as helping each partner to evolve in themselves rather than blaming their partner for difficulties.
During couples therapy sessions Violeta:
- gets the partners to a stage where they recognize the wish to change in certain ways within themselves rather than struggling to change the other
- encourages and develops the couple’s understanding of their cycles and patterns and helps them reflect on them rather than feel trapped
- gets the partners to experiment between sessions and explore the relationship in a spontaneous way
- encourages partners to open the door to trying something different and regain the spark in their relationship.
Supervision
Part of Violeta's work in the last nine years has involved providing individual and group clinical supervision. She has been facilitating empathetic reflections that effectivelly foster and maintain egalitarian supervisor-supervisee relationship and support the supervisee's sense of autonomy. Violeta has been using the approach of Focusing in supervison. This approach creates a space for supervisees to:
- develop new insights and embrace alternative perspectives
- utilise both in their therapeutic work in a way that is beneficial to their clients
- transfer their knowledge into therapeutic wisdom.
